Cloud Break Mine is about 120km North of Newman in a straight line, or approximately 250km by road (3 hours in vehicle).

Western Construction is part of a Team of 5 Contracting Groups (United Group Resources, Downer Electrical, Amec and PCH) calling itself C45. C45 is constructing an Iron Ore Plant for the Fortescue Metals Group. This Major project is underway and the expected completion is Jan 31st 2008.

  Western Lee Joint Venture

Western Construction Co is in an alliance with Downer Electrical assisting Alcoa of Australia maintain their Kwinana Refinery. Western Construction Co has been on this site now for over 20 years and currently has a permanant office on site.

Workshop

Our main workshop at Kwinana is on a 3 hectare site with 5000 square metres of covered workshop area. The workshops are serviced by 6 overhead cranes of up to 45 tonnes combined capacity, and are equipped with a wide range of fabrication equipment including:

Mechanical Workshop

Our Mechanical workshop is located adjacent to the fabrication workshop and has an office and 1300 m2 of working area. All mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed by qualified personnel. Generally, the maintenance workshop services all our sites to ensure that down time of all equipment is kept to a minimum.

Exotic Steels Workshop

Western Construction also has an Exotic Steel workshop at this location which is 636 m2 of working space. We are capable of fabricating Vessels and Piping in Titanium, SAF and 316L.

Site Workshop

We also have an on-site workshop at Alcoa Alumina Refineries in WA. Additionally we set up site workshops on our larger site contracts to ensure a complete on-site service.
